Houston Baptist's Art Bernardi has won the StatSheet Great West Player of the Week award for the week ending February 18th. Texas-Pan American's Shaquille Hines has been recognized as StatSheet Great West Freshman of the Week. And finally, Texas-Pan American's Ruben Cabrera is the StatSheet Great West 6th Man of the Week. Bernardi put up great stats in scoring (11 pts per game) and rebounding (7 per game). The Houston Baptist senior played well in a win against Texas-Pan American.

This is a familiar honor for Art Bernardi, who has been selected StatSheet Great West Player of the Week four times. He has also received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is sophomore Marcel Smith from Houston Baptist. Honorable mention goes to our own Chris Flores.

StatSheet Great West Freshman of the Week: Texas-Pan American's Shaquille Hines

Shaquille Hines was on the floor an average of 15 minutes as a starter for Texas-Pan American. His average in shooting (71.0%) topped all Great West freshmen. In a late 79-73 win over Cal State Bakersfield, Hines tallied 5 points and 2 rebounds. Then in a 53-48 loss to Houston Baptist, he put up 6 points and 6 rebounds.

This is the second StatSheet Great West Freshman of the Week award for Shaquille Hines. The runner-up is Dauson Womack from Houston Baptist. Honorable mention goes to Rob Lewis from Houston Baptist. The highest ranking freshman from New Jersey Tech was Ky Howard who finished 4th.

StatSheet Great West 6th Man of the Week: Texas-Pan American's Ruben Cabrera

Ruben Cabrera, a 6-7 Senior forward, averaged 17 minutes over the two games for the Broncs. In the win against Cal State Bakersfield, Cabrera put up 9 points and 5 rebounds. Then in the loss to Houston Baptist, he racked up 4 points and 2 rebounds.

This is Ruben Cabrera's first StatSheet Great West 6th Man of the Week award this season. Our own Quentin Bastian is runner up. Our own Odera Nweke receives honorable mention. New Jersey Tech has 2 StatSheet Great West Player of the Week wins this season.
